January is Winter Camp season at SSLC. The students were here for a full month, but due to all the good times and fun activities we had, it feels like they were here just in a blink of an eye. Time flies when you’re having fun right? We had a huge intake this year for the Surrey Winter Camp, but that didn’t stop us from building amazing relationships with each and every student we had. We went skiing and snowboarding on top of mountains and then expanded our minds at Science World. We also learned about marine wildlife at the Vancouver Aquarium and braved the suspension bridge of Capilano. We had many activities that let us check off our bucket lists but the most important feature of the camp was that the students were able to improve and exercise their English skills.
As a member of the staff, we can go on and on talking about how great the camp is but we believe hearing from the students is much better. Please read these testimonials from three of our Brazilian students:
My time at SSLC was simply magical. It is very cool that the classes are separated by skills. This gives us a chance to improve and interact with different classmates. I was very happy to have met people from many countries. The school offered all kinds of activities and I enjoyed it as much as possible. The teachers who accompanied us in the activities (Mimi, Lauren and Ariel) are very cool. It’s hard to choose my favorite moment in Canada because everything was wonderful. I felt like I was in a magical place in Capilano and I had very funny moments in other tours. The only bad moment at SSLC was when I had to leave.
How to start writing about the best days of my life? I can start by writing about SSLC and how it is a wonderful college that made my exchange experience even better. The first day we were greeted by incredible people who strive for everything to work properly in school, an incredible team that has always shown kindness and passion for their work. The classes were amazing and all the teachers were like friends, always willing to listen and help, especially teacher Angela, I am very grateful to have met this wonderful person. For sure the best part of my day was school, spending 6 hours of my day next to people from different countries contributed so much to my life, and I’m so happy for the friends that I made. This made me realize that SSLC teaches much more than English. I am so grateful to have studied at this college that is now part of an incredible and unforgettable moment of my life.
I always admired learning foreign languages so, going to SSLC was the best for me. I had many opportunities to improve my English and I enjoyed having regular conversations with my classmates and teachers. My classmates are from many different countries and now I know so much about their cultures which I’m really interested in. The classes are very nice and the teachers do everything to make them interesting. That’s so cool! When the teacher teaches with love; the students learn with pleasure. Thank you so much SSLC!
