New Year’s Resolution: Learn English

New Year’s day is upon us and it’s the perfect time to reflect and think about the future! 2018 was filled with ups, downs, challenges and plenty of triumphs. We all have our goals set for 2019 but here at SSLC would like to suggest one resolution for you to consider. That resolution is to improve your English skill! SSLC can help you exceed your potential and below are a few reasons why you should consider improving your English skills.

SSLC Resolution English

English is the most commonly spoken language in the world, research shows about 1/5 people speak it.  English is the official language of 53 countries with over 400 million people around the world speaking it as a first language.  English is also the most common language used on the Internet. Many websites are written in English – you will be able to understand them and to take part in forums and discussions.

English is often the language used for science, aviation, computers, diplomacy, and tourism. Knowing English increases your chances of getting work in a multinational company in your country or abroad. Having English either as a primary or secondary language really increases your career potential. Being fluent in English as a second language demonstrates a powerful brain and reflects how someone has put in a huge amount of time and commitment needed to master a skill. You’ll be in a better position to apply for jobs overseas if you’ve reached a good level of fluency in English.

English has been referred to as “the language of business”, and it’s very clear to see why. If you are planning to take your career or business international, it’s essential that you’re able to speak English fluently.  There may well be plenty of English-speaking multinational corporations with offices in your home country, therefore having ‘Fluent English Skills’ on your resume is desirable. You may take the lead in international business meetings or conduct sales with overseas partners. Lastly, your English skill can help you with your marketing and communications projects.

English is not only useful, but it also gives you a lot of satisfaction. Making progress feels great and it makes you feel a sense of accomplishment. You will enjoy learning English if you remember that every hour you spend studying will lead you closer to your goal. Since English is spoken in so many different countries there are thousands of schools around the world that offer programs in English. SSLC is one of those schools with many English programs from ESL to Power Speaking & Modern Media to Business English. Our sister school Vancouver International College – Career Campus offers the Customer Service Professional program.
