On our last posts, we learned about SSLC Victoria and SSLC Toronto’s amazing initiatives during the holidays. This giving spirit was actually very much present at all campuses. As Christmas is known as the season of giving, Sprott Shaw Language College wanted to make sure we did our part. Below is what each campus was able to accomplish for those in need:
SSLC Vancouver Campus
Vancouver campus held a 50/50 draw for staff. This was a fun and interactive way to fundraise. Vancouver campus was able to raise a little bit over $200 with about 100 going to the winner (lucky) and the other 100 to Union Gospel Mission.
SSLC Toronto Campus
To see what SSLC Toronto Campus did in detail click here. The quick summary is that the amazing people at SSLC Toronto, both staff and students have really big hearts. They fundraised by selling candygrams with proceeds going to Youth Without Shelter. With the freezing winter they are experiencing, this was definitely a call need answering.
SSLC Victoria Campus
To go into detail with what SSLC Victoria did click our latest post here. The campus was able to collect 20 cans of nonperishable foods, 10 bags of crackers and 10 brand new winter hats. On top of all that SSLC Victoria was able to collect one new pair of boots. Again, all proceeds went to the Rainbow Kitchen to help all the good work they do over there.
SSLC Surrey Campus
We believe SSLC Surrey went above and beyond last year. They embodied what it truly means to be a global citizen and answered the call of those in need worldwide. Partnering with Plan International allowed SSLC Surrey to do just that. On campus, they had a bake sale and raised $125. The money was able to purchase a goat, baby chicks, a bed net and school supplies for children and families in developing countries.
SSLC looks forward to more initiatives like this in the coming year. For more information about Sprott Shaw Language College click here. To see what our sister school VIC did, check out their Christmas Story on their Instagram here.
